Am i being fair?!

Good day community,

Much appreciated if i could garner the community's view on the following issue i currently have ongoing:

I have 2 listings on Airbnb. Each in a different town/village.

I inadvertently sent my guest directions/welcome notes for the wrong property.

They did not question the fact that I'd sent them details for a different town so i had no opportunity to see i'd made an error before they arrived.

They then proceeded to turn up at the incorrect property at 1am and call us as they couldn't find any keys.

Fortunately we managed to find a hotel for them - at great expense - x3 our nightly rate.

It feels to me that we are both to blame. Me for sending the wrong instructions and the guest for not checking the instructions.

Would you assert that we are both to blame and split the cost 50/50 or should i refund them for the full night at the hotel?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/comments

@Simon22  No, you are to blame.  There is no reason to expect guests to know anything about the geography of your area and which address goes with which town.  They followed  your directions and you sent them to the wrong place.  That is your mistake.

@Simon22 I think this one is definitely on you I am afraid.

Thank you..

Am off to sort out auto sending of welcome notes/directions to guests now!

To ensure I don't do it again.. 🙂

You are to blame. I'm sorry, it's a hard lesson to learn. But I bet you won't make the same mistake again.

Certainly won't.. 🙂

Off to set up scheduled welcome notes..

@Simon22

Have you considered setting up scheduled messages on each listing?  I would think that using scheduled messages would help avoid this kind of mistake.  Just my opinion.

My next move! 🙂

Just need to figure out how to set it up now 🙂
