This is a recent problem that I have run into. It’s happened about 3 times so far in 2023. It is usually a longer or mid term stay 7 days- 2 months.
A guest is unsatisfied with something on a listing and calls support and states they want to leave. Customer support will then alter their reservation to the day they make the complaint and effectively cancel the reservation and give the guest a full refund.
IE the guest checks in on Jan 5th for a 60 day stay. They call support and support adjusts their reservation to check out on January 7th, refunding the remaining days of the stay. All this is done without my consent or hearing my side of the story. Support states this decision is final. Now I have an open calendar for the next 57 days and it will be difficult to rebook most of the immediate nites.
Airbnb is using this method to skirt the reservation and cancellation policies while leaving the hosts high and dry.
