Guest damaged neighbors garage

We had a guest leave this morning and they backed into our neighbors garage and damaged it. The guest did stop and speak with the neighbor and gave her all of their insurance information. Our neighbor contacted us to let us know what happened and sent us all the information. How do we go about this issue? I have never had this happen before. Also, the guest didn't inform me of this.

@Kaela82 I don't think is anything to do with you. Whilst helping a neighbour is always good the reality here is the neighbour needs to claim off the guest's insurance. Its no different to the guest hitting a car 10 yards down your road.

Perfect thank you so much! I do know that they gave the neighbor their auto insurance and ID. so at least they stopped!

Update on the garage door mishap.

Our neighbor contacted us last night and said she hasn’t heard a word from the guests insurance company. Currently temperatures are below 0 in Colorado and her home is freezing because of the broken garage door.

we contacted a colleague and he informed us to go through Airbnb resolution center and “request” money from the guest. If he doesn’t pay Airbnb will take care of it.

we have all the photo proof and estimates from the garage door company and we also had to pay out of pocket to have her door sealed before the cold weather hit.

the guest contacted us after we sent the request and was extremely rude about it and said that this has nothing to do with us because it isn’t our property and we shouldn’t be requesting resolution from him. And that this is between our neighbor and his insurance company. Oh by the way, it was his friend that crashed the car into the door, not him.

we did inform him that this is protocol and it is keeping us safe from having to fork over anymore money especially when we didn’t cause the damage.

did we do the right thing in contacting the resolution center?
