Guest overstaying

Hi, I would like an advise on what to do. My guest check out time was at 11:00 and they told me they were taking a little longer .I reply to them that it was ok that they can take their time but is been 2 1/2 hours since that

Right after I posted this they left, it turns out they were waiting for someone to pick them up which is understandable. Thank you for all the feedback and I will definitely take notes for future reference!๐Ÿซถ

@Leannette0 this guest is doing nothing wrong having been told to take their time. Perhaps message them again and explain you need to get on with turning the property around for the next guest and could they leave in the next 30 mins.

@Leannette0 ,

Most of us Hosts learn this lesson very quickly.  Make a mental note of this experience and in future stick to your House Rules/Checkout Rules because if you don't respect your own rules ... no one else will either.

By the way, your 11:00 a.m. ck-out time is very fair.

@Leannette0 Since you initially told the guests they could take their time, they might not be aware that their extended stay could potentially cause inconvenience or additional costs for you. Reach out to them calmly and clearly, explaining the situation. If you are thinking if you can request additional fee, you may attempt and request an additional fee for a late checkout via Airbnb's Resolution Center. Also, adding a clear outlines for the checkout time and any fees or policies related to late checkouts disclosed in your listing description/House Rules might also help in the future! ๐Ÿ™‚

Add a note in your house rules that late check outs are subject to a fee. so in the future when they stay over time without your permission you can start a claim or request money through resolution center and Airbnb will make sure you get paid. Or some of them can be reasonable people and will be happy to pay the late check out fee for convenience. But if you dont put anything into your rules, you cant make a claim either.
