I have booked an air bnb.
I have the confirmation code. The host reached out and sent WhatsApp details.
I am ok with that since I can chat there if letting them know when I’m 30 mins away from the property etc., but they are asking for my confirmation code.
I have never had a host ask for that before. So I am suspect that I might be getting scammed. and will end up turning up to place and it’s booked by someone else. Am I overthinking it?

Hello @Karina1107
According to the new terms and conditions on Airbnb, hosts are encouraged to use the Airbnb message thread and cannot suggest to guests to use WhatsApp etc. It has to come from the guest first!
Is this a professional or an individual host Karina?
@Karina1107 sounds dodgy to me. Why do they need this code? Best to ask them...
As a host, I see the code on my copy of the confirmation, so this is unnecessary. Also, definitely keep all communication on the platform app.

This is a professional host. All good. I worked it out with them.
I also think my skepticism also paid off here too.
fingers crossed for my stay. But will stay in the Airbnb chat now for sure.
cheers and thanks.
Hopefully the reviews for the listing speak for themselves😉
Happy holidays!
