House Manual Recommendations?

Hey AirBnB Community,

I'm a brand new host and just booked my first reservation today - it's so exciting! Does anyone have tips or recommendation for sections to include in the House Manual? One of my favorite things to see when staying in an AirBnB is a well-done, laminated House Manual sitting near the front door, or on the counter when you arrive.

Thanks in advance, and happy to be here!

Best,

Ethan

@Ethan362  Congratulations on your first booking! I also like seeing a printed House Manual as a guest, but I appreciate when it's very concise.

At the front - the WiFi password, emergency contact info, House Rules, checkout instructions, and, if you're using self-check-in, any operational instructions that you would have covered on the tour.

After that, perhaps a Top 10 of unique or less-touristy local spots for food, shopping, and recreation.

Be aware, you have exactly the kind of listing that is targeted by people looking for a venue to throw a big party that could destroy your home and your standing in the community. So I strongly recommend that your listing aggressively deters this, with a firm rule that no unregistered visitors may enter the property at any time, and text in several places alerting people that your security devices will be monitored to prevent such activity.

@Ethan362  I agree with keeping it concise, not too wordy. Also keep in mind that people are very visually oriented in this age of the internet and are drawn to images which catch their attention.

So if it's an instruction about the coffee maker, maybe add a little image of one next to it. And vary the font between sections, so it's more eye-catching and easier to locate specific instructions.
