Leaving a review for a no-show guest
Hi everyone! I'm quite new to hosting (3 months) so I'm not quite sure how this works. I had a guest that just did not show up for their reservation. I went to turn over the cabin the next day and it was clean. I tried messaging them to make sure everything was ok but no response. Now I am being prompted to leave a review. Do I just not leave a review?

@Helen744 I’m not sure what you mean with ‘a guest who didn’t stay cannot leave a review’? A reservation that isn’t cancelled at least the day before check in - well both guest and host are able to leave reviews.
@Becca2173 I wouldn’t leave a review if I were you as the guest then will get a notification that you have left a review - asking them to leave one if they would like to see what you have written. You could end out getting a less than 5 star review in return and that would be really bad for especially a new host. The message you got asking you to leave a review is automated. If I were you I would cross my fingers and hope the guests won’t review you and wait for the 14 day review period to run out. Best, Sandra 🌿

@Becca2173 I would wait 10 days or so to make sure they don't try to claim a refund and then leave them an honest review - To me they are close to the perfect guest!

@Becca2173 a guest who did not stay cannot leave a review , so your review should simply say .' "guest did not stay' H

Thanks Helen! I would feel bad leaving a bad review, how many stars would be appropriate in your opinion?

@Sandra856 common sense will tell you they cannot, Sandra but the rules also say so . This does not mean that 'the wheels ' will not allow it just that it can be removed.. I hope that clarifies ... H

@Helen744 @I have never heard of a guest who didn’t stay that got a review removed. But I know that if a booking isn’t cancelled latest midnight before the check in day - both guest and host are able to review. That is also why it is so unfair for hosts - a guest can ask for a refund and if the host won’t refund - then the guest is able to leave a revenge review.

@Helen744 I think you will find @Sandra856 is correct. The computer that rules Airbnb has no idea if the guest actually stayed or not unless they cancelled the reservation. In @Becca2173 's case there was no cancellation so the guest can leave a review.

@Becca2173 @Mike-And-Jane0 and @Sandra856 . the wording is thus 'If a guest never arrived for their stay or experience, or had to cancel due to circumstances unrelated to their stay or Experience, their review may be removed.' This does require a contact with Airbnb if the guest does leave any type of review , good or bad... I take this to mean that the review will be removed as there can be no relevance to a stay that you did not have.. H
