Hi Airbnb Team,
I’d like to suggest a few improvements to notification settings for hosts and co-hosts.
Right now, there’s no way to customize notifications for guest messages versus reactions such as a guest “hearting” a message. I want to make sure I’m always notified immediately if a guest sends an important message, even while I’m sleeping, in case there’s an urgent issue like a leak, lockout, or safety concern. However, I do not want to be woken up by notifications that a guest simply reacted to a message with a heart. Those notifications are not urgent enough to justify interrupting sleep, and currently there’s no way to differentiate them.
This is becoming especially important as Airbnb becomes more global, with guests and hosts operating across many different time zones. A guest reacting to a message at 3am local time should not create the same priority notification as an actual guest message requiring attention.
It would be extremely helpful if hosts could customize notification types separately, for example:
- Guest messages
- Message reactions/hearts
- Booking updates
- Scheduled/auto messages
I’d also like to request an option for co-hosts to disable notifications for scheduled or automated messages. At the moment, I receive notifications every time a scheduled message is sent from listings I co-host, which creates a lot of unnecessary notification noise throughout the day.
Adding more granular notification controls would significantly improve the hosting experience, especially for hosts managing multiple listings and trying to remain responsive to urgent guest needs without constant nonessential interruptions.
Thank you for considering this feedback.
I second that @Ryan2940
Also, I'm not so pleased about being woken up with the message "So-and-so arrives in 8 days".
Like you, I let my Airbnb app messages through my night-time Do Not Disturb setting, but it would be great if we could set the Airbnb notifications to only let through actual messages from guests.
I’ve been able to turn off the “guest arriving in 8 days” notifications under Reminders. I also turned off all offers and updates, and changed account activity and policy notifications to email only so they don’t make noise on my phone. At this point, the only push/text notifications I receive are guest messages.
I just wish Airbnb would let us further customize guest message notifications, especially to exclude scheduled/auto messages for co-hosts and, most importantly, message reactions/hearts. A guest hearting a message should not create the same notification priority as an actual guest message about a leak, lockout, or urgent issue.
Thank you @Ryan2940 !
I found the reminders area, will set it to let through Email & SMS only, and block Push notification👍
