Our first real nightmare guests!

We've had about 80 stays at our place since Airbnb'ing. We are about the cheapest around and have probably the best star rating in our area. Not bragging, we do go our of our way for our guests and make them feel very welcome.

Anyhow, our guest from a couple of days ago show up. We always walk out to introduce ourselves and have a bit of an ice-breaker chat to make them feel welcome.

We  realized they weren't getting out of their vehicle until we actually walked up to them. The man gets out and we introduce ourselves but his partner never got out of the vehicle. We actually never even met her, she never got out of the vehicle. We din't ponder too much on it but thought it a bit odd.

We showed him through the tiny house and offered information he may need and even honey from our bee hive.

Minutes after we left them to it, he comes around to the house and starts telling us his partner is feeling very uncomfortable and unsafe.

I asked him why, what is it that she is feeling that way. He says the tiny house is too close to the main house. It's about 50 meters away. We queried him again on why would she feel unsafe. We got nowhere and he was asking for a refund.

To say I was gobsmacked is an understatement. I felt it was a sort of Twilight Zone playing out. I told him again I couldn't understand why this was even happening and even stated that what was happening I found very strange. I told him if they had bothered to read what is entailed in the listing, it describes exactly how far away it is from the main home home and  we wouldn't be patronizing the idea of a refund. Told him to just think about it, move in, relax and it will be fine. They drove off and the next thing, Airbnb resolution center is contacting us.

Long story short with the resolution center, they sided with us but after a few phone calls and emails. We're busy people and this was such a waste of time and all because of some neurotic self entitled spoiled youth. We have a beautiful place, all our reviews are very positive and you couldn't get a more peaceful surrounding.

I certainly didn't leave them a favorable review but would it be advisable to block this person? I checked their profile, just new and not a thing in it.

I'm sorry you had such a difficult experience.  @Rick4406

Unfortunately there are always guests out there who don't read a listing properly .

look on the positive side you're still being paid in full for the stay and the listing is prepared for the next guest 😀😀

you can block them if you like - have they been harassing you on the platform?

Thanks, yea getting paid and not cleaning is a positive. And no, they're not harassing me. These people were just too weird for me.

Thanks for your reply Helen.
