Push notification issues!

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask how you deal with situations when Airbnb push notifications suddenly stop working.

We manage more than 20 listings, so timely communication is critical for us. The issue is that new messages from guests are not appearing as push notifications at all  sometimes we only notice them much later when we manually open the app.

We’ve already checked the basics (notifications enabled, no battery restrictions, app updated), but the problem still occurs across multiple devices.

This creates a serious operational risk, especially with same-day bookings or urgent guest questions.

How are you handling this on your side?

Do you rely on alternative notification systems?

I'm really sorry to read that you're having these issues. Would you be able to follow these troubleshooting steps please: 

  • Log out (on all affected devices/browsers)
  • Close all browser windows/tabs (on all affected devices/browsers)
  • Open ONE new window (on all affected devices/browsers)
  • Clear cache and cookies and browser history (on all affected devices/browsers)
  • Delete & re-install app (if applicable)
  • Log in with email associated with your Airbnb account

Please let me know if the issue persists and provide me with the type of device you're using.

Same issue here, using Android. Ever since an app update I'm no longer able to get push notificatios from messages on Airbnb. I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing the app, didn't work. Can you please help?

Hi @Rebecca  yes I have been through all the steps. All push notifications are set to "on" on my phone as well. It was working fine untill an app update.

I’d like to share this with the team. Could you confirm:

  • Your device (phone, tablet, or desktop)
  • Your software (iOS or Android)
  • Your Airbnb app version (App > Profile > Account settings; the version number is at the bottom)

Same issue on Pixel 8 Pro.

Android 16

Airbnb app 26.18

Frequent user for over a decade, had no changes to cause it....just lack of notifications, even though there has been no changes to my notification settings.

 

Works fine on backup device, Pixel 7 Pro.

Correction: the notification sound isn't working on the Pixel 7 Pro either, running Android 16 and app 26.18, too.

 

This is problematic. To only get visual notifications.
