Hello Airbnb Community,
I recently had an experience where a host left a review for me, and I’m not sure if it violates Airbnb’s content policy. The host mentioned that they had to contact Airbnb's Safety Team due to my "disrespectful and unprofessional behavior," and specifically pointed out an issue with my personal belongings (dirty underwear). I was very surprised by this and am unsure whether such references to Airbnb’s internal processes and personal issues should be allowed in reviews.
I believe reviews should focus on the guest-host experience and shouldn’t mention things unrelated to the stay, such as actions taken by Airbnb or personal matters that don't impact the guest-host interaction.
Has anyone else encountered something similar? Do you think this type of review violates Airbnb’s content policy? I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and any advice on how to handle this situation.
Also, it was definitely a revenge review (new host by the way, I have been a superhost and a great guest) as I had to report the host to the police for harassment and left my accommodation. He contacted airbnb safety team because he said that I did not return the key, in fact I had evidence of everything (returning a key, I made a video) and airbnb closed his case.
@Dora31 . Hi Dora, hard to get more context without seeing the review but yes adds meaning to the saying to not get your knickers in a knot. 😉
Seriously though, I had a recent stay where one of the guests left some (old but clean) undies behind. I simply washed them and added them to my outdoor cleaning rags. Never in a million years would I think to mention that in a review.
Agree they are odd words to use for a guest "disrespectful and unprofessional behavior". Sounds like they needed to relax a bit. I have no idea if your removal request would be successful and only you can decide if its worth more of your time and energy.
that was the review.

@Dora31 . Wow. Appalling language (particularly in his response to your review) and yes I'd ask for it to be removed as well as report him.
As an aside, does he operate in same area of London ie is a competitor host? I think hosts need to be particularly careful when commenting on another host who stays at their place in such a negative way. Hopefully the facts will sort this one out. 🙏
In my opinion Airbnb needs to create a new job group of people who will review both guests and hosts reviews prior to posting them publicly. There appears to be some issues happening on both sides. Right now its like some people are getting away with being very destructive and mean.
a horrible situation.
Looking at the review the host said you arrived late and disturbed him and other guests using the bathroom and left personal items in a shared bathroom . If this is untrue I can understand why you are upset @Dora31
unfortunately I don't see that it would not meet the terms for a review .
if you have evidence the host didn't raise these issues with you and you had to leave because of harassment you can try and see if Airbnb will remove it .
personally I would never have booked with a host that had a 4.25 rating. Particularly in somewhere like London which has many thousands of hosts offering shared homes accommodation.
by the way I would ask Airbnb to remove his response to your review it's appalling
