Scam?

Scam?

New to hosting this month. I received an inquiry from a possible guest stating they were trying to “help” a military family and wanted to book for about 50% of our posted rate. I declined. I just received another inquiry from the same person with a different story, for different dates, but still asking for a discount.  Obviously now I’m thinking this has to be some type of scam - but what is the angle on it? What should I be looking for? I currently have instant book on but wondering if I should turn it off or switch to the stricter “good track record” booking option?

The hustle is to get a place for 50%. Even with Instant Booking on you can refuse a reservation you are not comfortable with, up to a point.
