The star rating is nonsense; I have a high-end listing in Hawaii, and 99.9% of our guests leave five stars. In the last 2 years, we only received one 4 star, and all before that were 5 stars, but we could never recover our 5-star overall rating.
@Jessica134 You need, from memory, about 290 5 star ratings to cancel out the 4 star rating so you may get there one day. That said its far better not to strive for perfection and accept that anything in the 4.9s is perfectly acceptable.
@Jessica134 You will recover your 5.0 rating after 200 reviews pending you don't get anything else less than a 5. It has nothing to do with Airbnb; it's just how the math works out.
199 reviews x 5.0 = 995
1 review x 4.0 = 4
(995 + 4) / 200 total reviews = 4.995 which is rounded to 5.0
