The host ask me I need to send him my passport

Hi, I will be traveling to Hong Kong, and the host has asked me to send my passport/HKID, which is standard procedure required by local regulations for all temporary accommodations. Is that true?

@Wai-Hin0

You can also exercise your right to show your passport if they have to register guests to the local authorities, in person when you arrive.

Some businesses are required to sight a valid Passport due to local Regulations.

For others, like Home share it's not our role.

Perhaps consult your local travel agent you have arranged any flight / travel plans with or check with a local human being what standard procedures are.

Oh for the day's some still do use, of using a human Travel Agent consultant to do these things for us!

Hi @Wai-Hin0 😊

Thank you for asking this here!

Based on @Helen427’s answer, what will you do, show this information before arrival or in person?

Hi @Wai-Hin0

Some countries require Host foreign guests to register with their passport online. For my condo, the HOA asks short-term hosts to register guests in advance with a valid ID to approve the Guest Authorization Form. We do this before your arrival to make check-in smooth and avoid any delays.
