My place is like a home for them, although its a cabin. In my general note i include that they can use whatever they may find in the kitchen or fridge. I always have the basic necessities for cooking, breakfast like eggs, Milk ketchup, bottle of coke etc. in the fridge. Some of them love it, some never use it. Coffee, hot choco and teas, honey, lemon, pasta, choco bars detox tea, etc. Icecream pops if they like, but i also put potato chips or an apple on the kitchen table along with my general note and attached a small note to it as a welcome gift. Depends what kind of guests you have. I leave small notes around the cabin as well on how to use some equipments in the cabin. Some of them loved it, they felt at ease and truly welcome, feels like home. I also make sure the TVs are on with a fireplace back ground or an acquarium or scenes from Norway with very low instrumental sound, to make the room alive but in a cozy way,. I don’t buy things as a gift but like the other hosts said, its best to give them tips about the sorrundings, ideas where to go written in a jouful manner or politely.
its not bad with local stuff, its amazing, perfect for non locals. What the guests like most is what they can do inside for fun, some only likes my place because of the sauna, specially couples, some like groups of youth love the karaoke, dart, Chess and some traveler on bikes enjoys my massage chair. If you like to put on weight of your service on welcome gifts maybe add some local flowers on the table, it will do some magic of welcome for them, a nice chilled champagne probably is better than things, specially for older couples. If champagne is costly you might try bake then some thing that you like cookies, muffins but just few slices is enough to save for the next day guests. 🤗 that’s all i can recommend for now.
