What exactly is included in Long Term Bookings?

Hello, my partner and I have made arrangements to stay at an Airbnb for an extended period of 160 days. To our surprise, the host required a cleaning deposit and mandated an $85 cleaning fee per month.

Contrary to our expectations, essential linens such as sheets are not refreshed regularly, and we were not provided with any extra linens, bath or kitchen towels, bath rugs, or even toilet paper as part of the rental.

It's concerning that the host doesn't specify what the cleaning fees include or exclude.

Furthermore, we discovered the presence of mold in the fridge, which strongly suggests that it hasn't been cleaned properly or at all.

Although the host offered a coin-operated laundry machine, it's located outside the home and requires additional payment towards the cost of cleaning and energy spent during the stay.

This situation raises doubts about the fairness of the arrangement, as it doesn't seem to align with ethical or good faith practices.

The host is not required to communicate this, as Airbnb does not impose this level of communication.

Hello @Samantha1449 , I'm sorry you had such a negative experience.

Each owner independently decides on what conditions he will accept long-term bookings.
In case of long-term bookings, hosts may charge separately for cleaning and linen change during the guest's stay, as well as, for example, utility bills.
According to the rules, owners must indicate this information on the listing page. In case of long-term bookings, I would recommend that guests contact the host in advance (before booking) through the “Contact the host” form on the ad page and clarify with him all the details of the stay and any questions the guests may have.

If you encounter any problems in your accommodation, you must report these problems to the owner. For example, if the cleaning was not done well enough, the owner must repeat the cleaning. It is also possible to request compensation through the Resolution Center: https://www.airbnb.ru/resolutions

@Samantha1449  You should be communicating with your host about these issues, as they are the ones who can answer your questions.

Long term stays are quite different from a weekend stay. Most hosts will give you a starter pack of supplies, but they are not going to support you for four months. It's up to you to buy toilet paper, paper towels, and supplies for everyday living.

It's also customary for extended stays to have required cleanings for an additional charge. That keeps the place fresh for you, and allows the host to make sure their property is being cared for properly and not trashed. If you have questions about what's included in the cleaning fee, ASK THE HOST.

You ding the host for not communicating this to you, but you can also ask, and the best time to have done that is before booking.

Tell the host there's mold in the fridge, and they should send someone to clean it, although a quick spray of any cleaning solution and a paper towel would take care of it.

The best thing you can do is work with your host so that you and they have a good stay.

If you decide to be unhappy with the accommodation from the start instead of trying to work things out, you'll both be unhappy.

@Samantha1449  Long term stays usually come with a huge discount and because of that toilet paper, fresh towels, linen etc. aren’t included. It is basically your home for 4 month - you are not tourists visiting for a few days.
