What's the scam here?

I've had a few people say they are going to reserve for a month or so. But they want to take through text outside of Airbnb. Then they ask some questions like, "are there good restaurants around there?" and "Is there a coffee maker?"   But then they get all chit-chatty, like "Do you like Chinese food?" and "What kind of coffee do you like?"  Then they start just texting to say hi.  But they never reserve.  What's the deal? What are they trying to get out of me? None of these people have any reviews.
Thanks in advance

Benjamin guests fall into two camps......

Passive/ complimentary: They have seen your listing like what they see and just want to pull out their credit card and stay! They will be great guests to host.

Aggressive/demanding: They have lots of questions and just want to jerk you around. Each question they ask strengthens their ground and weakens yours to the point where you will eventually give in to anything just to get them out of your life.

Benjamin don't deal with a haggler! Hagglers are not like a fine bottle of wine, they don't improve as time goes by.

Keep all your communication through the Airbnb message stream so there is a record of it, and if a potential guest is not comfortable with that, stop all communication....they want something for nothing and you can be assured that what ever they want, it won't benefit you.

Cheers.........Rob
