Worried about guests arriving from France to U.K. without quarantining.

Hello,

I am a new host and would very much appreciate some help and advise.

I have accepted a booking from a guest for a weeks stay. Her profile says she lives in Paris and I cannot contact her by the phone number she has given.

At present there is a quarantine rule of two weeks  between England and France. I have tried unsuccessfully to ask if she is travelling directly from France.

What do you suggest I do if she arrives without having answered my question?

@Georgina180Your local authority is the place to get the guidance you need. All local authorities have been providing guidance and support to businesses and can help you with this issue.

If in doubt, decline the booking.

@Georgina180 One positive is that she will be breaking the law and not you. Many guests do not see messages from hosts as they do not have alerts switched on or don't have the app.

Thank you for replying. Maybe she hasn't seen my message.

I'm guessing she's planning on being in quarantine in your place. Depending on the conditions (not allowed to share spaces), it's legal. She'll need to fill a form in advance and give your Airbnb address. I've just done this for 2 weeks and I'm out of quarantine tonight.

@Bryan10  Georgina said the booking was for one week. That's not quarantine regulations. Likely if the booking was for 2 weeks, she wouldn't be wondering whether to accept it.

@Georgina180  Hi Georgina, do not worry about this, just keep full details of your guest and any visitors so you will comply with any local authority regulations. Your legal reasponsibility is then covered and keep the data for atleast 21 days after they leave. Thats my interpretation of the rules at present but I am no expert!!!!

Be happy and safe Shaun.

Hi  from a fellow host in Bristol @Georgina180

Personally I wouldn't take a booking from a guest who wants to quarantine, particularly when they have only booked a one week stay as they would obviously then not be able to quarantine if moving on from you after a week.

I offer a room in my shared home so wouldn't want a guest in my house 24/7 who would have to order in food and likely to have to use the kitchen and bathroom much more than if they were out and about.

If the guest doesn't respond to messages through Airbnb and by phone, you can contact airbnb and ask them to contact the guest. If you can't reach the guest to confirm they will be elsewhere in the UK for two weeks before your stay,  I would ask Airbnb to cancel the booking.
