changing the ad rental to another.

changing the ad rental to another.

So i have experienced this when i was visiting a host myself, we rented a stay for a few days at a place that was well reviewed. It was at first number 23. Than a few days before our arrival date, the house number suddenly changed to 4, including the whole advertisement. So this host changed the whole advertisement on Airbnb that it even had the reviews of the previous house. After asking about this, he stated that 23 had been sold.

But when we arrived, the place looked alright the first day, but we noticed mold in the shower, beds so bad it was almost not worth even to sleep on them. It was insulated so poorly you could feel a draft in the house even with all the doors and windows shut. All the cutlery, pots and pans, plates all still had old scraps of food on them like someone did a really poor job doing the dishes. But the worst was, the roof leaked, everywhere. And the drops had a very sour smell like vinegar, it even landed in our food ruining dinner of the last day. Seeing we were mostly gone for the second and third final day, we could not contact the host, and how could he fix a leaking roof? We were on the other side of the country, staying here for new years eve, there is nothing else available in the area.

But this has to be against Airbnb policy to change the ad to another house, so it has the reviews of the old house. We also can't review our trip now because it was about house nr 23, not 4!

I would say it is against Airbnb Policy to switch properties. It does say "without permission of the guest."  If you have issues with the Host switching properties and/or the current listing isn't clean, contact Airbnb ASAP to address that:

Hi @Wil13

I'm sorry to hear that your booking did not go as planned!

Did you get a chance to contact the support teams over the weekend, as Joan suggested? If you haven't yet, you can reach out to them via this page: www.airbnb.com/help/contact-us/

Let us know how you get on. 🙂

We contacted the host to get half of our money back, but he refused, stating we did not instantly contacted him about the rental being filthy or faulty. So i have send help from Airbnb. The host, also suddenly put the ad offline but i can still see it, he changed the rental back to the previous rental (23) and removed all photo's but one.
