Hi Community! Ive been hosting for a month in Byron Bay, and have had 2 bookings so far and both gave a 5 Star Review which I am very happy and grateful for. Since then, I haven't had any further bookings. I have used the price tipping option for the next few months as we come into Winter. Have other Hosts seen a pause on bookings due to whats happening in the world right now (fuel/cost of living) or are the Hosts that have been doing this for awhile still getting bookings? Would love to hear from others. thank you!
Hi @Xenia95
First of all, great start with 2 bookings and 5-star reviews — that’s a strong foundation.
A short pause like this is quite common, especially after the first few bookings. It’s usually less about global factors and more about visibility and pricing positioning in your local market.
A few things you can try that often help:
• Slightly adjust pricing – even with price tips, try going a bit more competitive than nearby listings for the next couple of weeks to boost conversions
• Check your first 5 photos – your cover image and initial scroll matter a lot for clicks
• Keep availability fully open and flexible – including shorter stays or last-minute bookings
• Use promotions (if not already) – even a small discount can trigger more visibility.
Also, Byron Bay can be quite seasonal, so some slowdown heading into winter is normal — but listings that stay competitive usually continue getting bookings.
You’re on the right track — a small tweak in pricing and visibility usually gets things moving again.
Let me know if that helps 👍🏻.. you can reach to me directly if needed more insights. 😄
