pre approval /decline

hello !    can you tell me - when a guest asks a question and airbnb offers you to pre approve/ decline,  do you have to respond to that action?   I was told that it would affect your superhost status if you do not respond to that action?   i am of course going to respond to the question that the guest asks, but do not repond to the accept/ decline usually.   Which is correct?
