Right now we've got a lovely guest bedroom with a full sized bed. No one has complained so far, but I've had rather tall, large framed couples sleep in it and I always feel bad. It is clearly in my listing that it is a full bed.
The real question is do you think I'd make more money and book more listings with a queen bed? I don't want to waste the money, but it would only be about $300 to upgrade. Thoughts?
I doubt you would get more bookings but on a personal note our recent trip to the US was made much more comfortable in Airbnb's that had queen sized beds
I prefer queen for sure!
You can deduct the cost on your taxes. people like a big bed
Anyone much over 6 feet will be uncomfortable in a full size bed. I'm 6'4" and will not book anyplace with less than a queen or my feet hang off the end. Upgrade to a queen.
@Kelsey8......Absolutely....you can't spend enough on a bed! As I have said in another post I regard the bed as the 'hero' of the accommodation and it certainly is in mine. Although not in a tourist area we are virtually fully booked until February next year and just about all of my reviews makes mention of how good the bed is....and that is attracting new bookings.
It costs, and I had this bed especially made for hosting! It, the mattress and the linen that goes with it did cost a good deal of money but I have got it back tenfold in bookings.
Kelsey, put in the best bed that you can afford....the better the bed, the better your reviews will be, and the more business you will attract! Cheers.....Rob
I have queen size beds in my listing. I do not have "foot boards' or railings at the foot of the bed so taller folks can stretch out and relax. I'm 5'10". ~.~
I would recommend you upgrade. We had a queen bed and were doing very well and our guests seem happy. Then one of the guest broke the queen box spring so we decided to upgrade to a king. That has made a big difference. After we got the king our next 3 guests all commented that was the reason they picked our place. We also found that we are getting request for longer term guests because of the king bed. I think any upgrade is helpful in a listing. Good luck.
I have to agree with this. My king size bedroom always gets long term bookings while the full size bedroom only gets weekend bookings.
I would defiantly go with a queen. I know when we travel my wife and I won't book a place unless it has at least a queen. For our own rental, he ended up going with a queen memory foam and have gotten several positive notes in our reviews.
this is the mattress we went with.
We are travelers who will not book a place that does not have a queen or king bed.
Doubles are just too small for us and our 4+ night stays.
I do not understand why every flat that can accommodate a queen has a smaller bed.
Just a quick tip;
Duvet (Comforter)
If you have a double bed then go the next size up for the Duvet ie King size
for a Queen and king size bed go to the Super King size Duvet.
This makes a massive difference for comfort and your guests will love you
