Editing listing

Hello, first time hosting on airbnb and im in the process of editing my listing. The issue im having is after adding all info, description and pictures. When I select preview to see how it would look for the guest the part that it mentions the property type- Room "queen bed and shared bathroom" is not showing that. It's saying 1 bedroom, 1 bed and 1 bath. When I view other property listings thats similar it shows

"queen bed and shared bathroom" which is what I want mines to say. I've been working on this same thing with airbnb customer service for weeks now.. they can't seem to figure it out. Which is frustrating and delaying me from listing my property bc I want to make sure it's done correctly. How do I fix this? Can someone assist me please?

Thank you

-Fabiola

When you set up the photo tour correctly (in the Listings Tab), the software will auto-detect the information and post it to your listing.

Make sure that you use the correct rooms (and bathrooms) in your photo tour and that all the photos are in the right place. Inside each room in the photo tour, you should also select the applicable type of bed. Once you have done this, the listing summary should be correct.

Hello @Shelley159

Yes, I've already done all of that. selected- room, shared space and sleeping arrangments (queen bed) and it still doesn't display it.. 😕

Hello @Fabiola158

Under Property Type there are three headings that need to be chosen from the drop down menus.  What have you put in for Listing type?  It should be room.  I wonder if you haven't entered here Entire place?

Here is a link that might help for those offering rooms on Airbnb:

Excellent that you went in and used that preview button as a guest would see your space!  Don't hesitate to give us screen shots so that we can identify where the problem lies as we can't yet access your listing as you are not yet live.

Hello @Joelle43

Thank you! Yes, in property type for the three headings I selected- house, home, room and it still doesn't show. I've realized the system auto detects what you choose from property type to display the description. And yes the preview button is very helpfuI especially for those those who like to double check their work and I am one of them haha

Here is my unfinished listing below. As you can see the description displays - Private room in home.... 1bedroom, 1bed, 1shared bath.

And here is a similar listing- room in home. The description is perfect and precise. How do I get my listing desc. to say the same thing?

Hello @Fabiola158

We're dealing with different time zones so sorry if my replies come with a delay.

Can you tell me if you have created your new listing with the Photo Tour?  There are currently two available versions to view listings  which may explain why your example of your ideal listing may be different to yours.

The fact that your listing just says bed rather than giving the actual size of the bed like in the "wanna look like that listing" is an avenue to explore.  When you click on one of the first five photos of this listing, do you see the photos put into named rooms?

On your listing, when you go into the bedroom, do you see under the photo the possibility of choosing bed size from the list?

Having said this, when we first create our listings we are only given 500 words to describe our listing and then once we've gone live, IF hosts go back (many don't because they don't know) we see new sub headings that allow us to add far more detailed descriptions on the listing and surrounding area.  However, if you are tempted to go live, please make sure that your calendar is not yet open to book to avoid a booking you may not be prepared for or just put it in pause to give you that extra time to complete it but don't leave it too long because you want to benefit from that honeymoon period that Airbnb gives to new listings😉

In case you don't know, Airbnb automatically puts new listings with the Instant Book and with a flexible cancellation policy so if you want to have a conversation with a future guest before they arrive, then I suggest you take IB off and look carefully at the different cancellation policies open to you.  Of course, the more flexible we are with our cancellation policies,  the better we rank in search results but it's important to feel ready to host and not feel bulldozed into accepting a booking we might not be comfortable with.  Having said this, as a newbie, Airbnb will promote your listing for around a month so that you can get those all important reviews.

Read up as much as you can on hosting before going live, read up on the implications when hosts cancel a reservation so that you don't find yourself in this position (a definite no-no!!)

If you are going to be present in your home, Airbnb allow female hosts to only rent to other females if you wish.

Here on the CC, under your photo on top right hand side, click on your photo and you'll see Host Guides that detail all you "wish you knew it existed" on hosting on Airbnb in one location😊
