Hello, first time hosting on airbnb and im in the process of editing my listing. The issue im having is after adding all info, description and pictures. When I select preview to see how it would look for the guest the part that it mentions the property type- Room "queen bed and shared bathroom" is not showing that. It's saying 1 bedroom, 1 bed and 1 bath. When I view other property listings thats similar it shows
"queen bed and shared bathroom" which is what I want mines to say. I've been working on this same thing with airbnb customer service for weeks now.. they can't seem to figure it out. Which is frustrating and delaying me from listing my property bc I want to make sure it's done correctly. How do I fix this? Can someone assist me please?
Thank you

@Elisa Yes, i've been communcating with them from the beginning. The issue is finally fixed and my listings are active now! Thanks for checking in 🙂
Best,
Fabiola
When you set up the photo tour correctly (in the Listings Tab), the software will auto-detect the information and post it to your listing.
Make sure that you use the correct rooms (and bathrooms) in your photo tour and that all the photos are in the right place. Inside each room in the photo tour, you should also select the applicable type of bed. Once you have done this, the listing summary should be correct.
Hello @Shelley159
Yes, I've already done all of that. selected- room, shared space and sleeping arrangments (queen bed) and it still doesn't display it.. 😕
Hello @Fabiola158
Under Property Type there are three headings that need to be chosen from the drop down menus. What have you put in for Listing type? It should be room. I wonder if you haven't entered here Entire place?
Here is a link that might help for those offering rooms on Airbnb:

Excellent that you went in and used that preview button as a guest would see your space! Don't hesitate to give us screen shots so that we can identify where the problem lies as we can't yet access your listing as you are not yet live.
🤞Joëlle
Hello @Joelle43
Thank you! Yes, in property type for the three headings I selected- house, home, room and it still doesn't show. I've realized the system auto detects what you choose from property type to display the description. And yes the preview button is very helpfuI especially for those those who like to double check their work and I am one of them haha
Here is my unfinished listing below. As you can see the description displays - Private room in home.... 1bedroom, 1bed, 1shared bath.
And here is a similar listing- room in home. The description is perfect and precise. How do I get my listing desc. to say the same thing?
Hello @Fabiola158
We're dealing with different time zones so sorry if my replies come with a delay.
Can you tell me if you have created your new listing with the Photo Tour? There are currently two available versions to view listings which may explain why your example of your ideal listing may be different to yours.
The fact that your listing just says bed rather than giving the actual size of the bed like in the "wanna look like that listing" is an avenue to explore. When you click on one of the first five photos of this listing, do you see the photos put into named rooms?
On your listing, when you go into the bedroom, do you see under the photo the possibility of choosing bed size from the list?
Having said this, when we first create our listings we are only given 500 words to describe our listing and then once we've gone live, IF hosts go back (many don't because they don't know) we see new sub headings that allow us to add far more detailed descriptions on the listing and surrounding area. However, if you are tempted to go live, please make sure that your calendar is not yet open to book to avoid a booking you may not be prepared for or just put it in pause to give you that extra time to complete it but don't leave it too long because you want to benefit from that honeymoon period that Airbnb gives to new listings😉
In case you don't know, Airbnb automatically puts new listings with the Instant Book and with a flexible cancellation policy so if you want to have a conversation with a future guest before they arrive, then I suggest you take IB off and look carefully at the different cancellation policies open to you. Of course, the more flexible we are with our cancellation policies, the better we rank in search results but it's important to feel ready to host and not feel bulldozed into accepting a booking we might not be comfortable with. Having said this, as a newbie, Airbnb will promote your listing for around a month so that you can get those all important reviews.
Read up as much as you can on hosting before going live, read up on the implications when hosts cancel a reservation so that you don't find yourself in this position (a definite no-no!!)
If you are going to be present in your home, Airbnb allow female hosts to only rent to other females if you wish.
Here on the CC, under your photo on top right hand side, click on your photo and you'll see Host Guides that detail all you "wish you knew it existed" on hosting on Airbnb in one location😊

@Joelle43 my apologies for the late reply, we had friends visting. And yes I realized we're on two different time zones haha no worries. Honestly im just really grateful that you've taken the time to try and help me figure and sort this out. Thank you! and for the add'l helpful tips.
So yes, I created the listing with photo tour. I see both desktop and mobile versions when I want to view the listing, if thats what you're reffering to? And they both say the same thing.
Yes, first five photos are placed in the "bedroom" no other named room. And I don't see the option to choose bed size only bed type.
I don't think that is the case, I have not gone live and have my listing set as "unlisted" the entire time. Do you know if Airbnb has an IT department? maybe it's a system glitch. When I spoke to customer support I asked and they said they can escalate certain matters to IT if its a system issue.. which im starting to think it is 😕
Thanks,
Fabiola
Hello @Fabiola158
Yes Airbnb do have an IT department but there is no way for us to contact them. A CS agent will forward our problem if they consider that the problem might be due to a bug so in the meantime it's best to see if we can try and sort it out with the help of others😉 Often quicker🤣
Back when I created my listing 4 years ago, I realised that once I had gone live on Airbnb, when I went back into it in host mode, I saw that there were more descriptions that I could add (not just the current 500 max word to describe your place) and far more features that could be added so there is that to consider.
So the day you do decide to go live, just block off your calendar for all forthcoming dates so that no one can book unexpectedly and see what your listing offers you then.
I've taken a screen shot to see hopefully make things clearer. So I'm on the Photo Tour and I have clicked on Bedroom 1.
==>Have clicked on Sleeping arrangements (in light grey) and you can see the different bed types you can choose from by using the + sign. Press save
In this next screen shot, under Privacy info, you can toggle the Private bathroom attached so that guests see its an ensuite bathroom that is provided. Press save
Hope this works🤞

@Joelle43 Salut! Happy Friday! thank you so much for all your help. CS agent and I finally got it sorted and we fixed the issue. Hallelujah! haha It had something to do with not having all the caterogy options when setting the property type so we had to go through a process called elevate and from there you would request for an add'l catergory, select it and once approved by airbnb it auto corrects and change the wording. So weird.. don't know why they won't just have all the catergory options when create the listing avoiding all this trouble. SMH But anyway all is good now and both of my listings are up! Thanks again for your support all the way from France!!
p.s I've always wanted to visit Paris. May plan to go in Dec. for my bday<3
Best,
Fabiola
Hello @Fabiola158
Thank you for the update and went onto your listings and was surprised to see that for the bedroom that is in your home it says that it's shared! I read that you say to ignore that in your description but most people don't read and my concern is that they will just see the icon that says it's a shared bedroom and will move on.
I have an entire place so I don't know how rooms work but I would suggest going back to that room or even further back where you ticked all the places that were shared. Any way that you might have ticked that the bedroom was shared by mistake?
Going to Paris for your birthday - fabulous! A long way from me as I am on the French Riviera - a dream area too so put that on your bucket list too!
All the best
Joëlle
Hi @Joelle43 Yes, I know 😕 thats what they recommend me to say while it's in the Elevate status. Once it's corrected on their end it won't show shared anymore and update to room in home. But you're right I feel that they will move on as soon as they see it says shared room, especially its one of the first things they'll see when they see the listing. ugh this is so frustrating! So I unlisted it until it's completely fixed, they said its okay to unlist in the meantime. Thanks for checking 🙂
Oh the French Riviera is gorgeous ❤️ Yes! I will add to my list when I visit for sure.

Hello @Fabiola158
I hope you don't mind if I tag someone as I just want to make sure that what you've been told by CS is indeed correct as I thought that your problem of having the bedroom as being shared with others in your home is not something that I thought Elevate dealt with? I could be wrong of course but sometimes the information given by CS is not always right.
You are now unlisted whilst this situation exists which is a real shame because you loose out on the period that Airbnb highlight new listings and I don't want you to miss out on this honeymoon period❤️
So I'm tagging @Joan2709 whose knowledge on editing listings holds no secrets!!😉
To be honest, I can't see how putting you in a category (possibly room?) is going to remove the fact that the bedroom is showing up as shared - it's either a bug or something that has been ticked by accident.
When we first spoke, from that first cover photo, was the bedroom showing up as shared or not?
So watch this space Fabiola! 🤞

Hi @Fabiola158 😊,
Thank you for asking this in the community!
I’m glad other hosts shared some advice with you. However, I’m sorry it didn’t work for you.
Since it has been a while, did you find a solution?
Please don’t hesitate to let me know!
Warm regards🌻,

Hi @Elisa
You're welcome. I'm happy there is a community on here to connect with other experience hosts.
No solution yet 😞 still working on it with a phone support as well.
Thanks,
Fabiola
