Hello everyone-
I initially declined a request because I thought we had a scheduling conflict. When I declined, I said it was due to date conflict and so my calendar has now been blocked off that whole week for the period covering the declined request. After speaking more with the requestor, we clarified something and will now confirm his request. But how do I reverse the declination? I'd say he could just make a new request except my calendar is still blocked off and I can't figure out how to open it up again. Please help!!
Thanks!
@Mallika11 Calendars don't get blocked for declining a request. It sounds like you cancelled a confirmed booking, for which your calendar will indeed get blocked as a penalty. And you can't unblock it yourself. All you can do is contact Airbnb and explain the situation, and hope they'll let you accept the guest for those dates
@Sarah977 Thanks for taking time to respond! I'm pretty sure I did not accept and then cancel accidentally, but I did give a reason for declination, which I think caused this. For this issue and for future concerns, how do I contact AirBNB directly? I would actually have loved to do so, but wasn't able to find a direct line here.
@Mallika11 Your hosting pages and account contain everything you need information wise. You just need to spend some time roaming around familiarizing yourself. In the app, click ‘profile’ scroll down to Support and click Get Help.
From desktop, click your profile picture to get through same help channels. There is all sorts of self help info you can wade through before finding the ‘contact us’ link at the bottom of the Help Centre page.
Just know that Airbnb’s outsourced CS reps usually know very little about Airbnb and either won’t know how to help you, or will give you incorrect information. You can learn most everything you need to know by perusing the help and resource pages of Airbnb, all of which can be accessed through your account. Or come here.
If you declined because you couldn’t host on those dates, then they would have been automatically blocked. In your calendar, click on one of the dates and a sidebar will pop up on the right with detailed info about that date. You should see that it’s ‘blocked’. Click ‘available’.
@Mallika11 Dates are blocked permanently, as Sarah suggests, if you cancel a confirmed booking. Dates are also blocked, but you have the ability to unblock them, if you let a Trip Request expire, or I believe also if you select certain reasons for the decline. The way to check is to select the dates on your calendar and see if you are able to manually unblock them yourself. See the below article for more information.

@Colleen253 Thanks for your input! I did put a reason on the declination around the dates, so I'm pretty sure that's what happened. But I haven't been able to manually unblock; however, I'll review that link and see if I'm able to figure it out.
