Liability with house keepers

Is anyone else worried about being liable for their house keeper? We use a couple different self-employed cleaners, so they're not bonded or insured. Obviously nothing is overtly dangerous in the house but what if they trip and hurt their back and decide to sue us? Any advice on how to protect ourselves further than just having homeowners insurance? Is having them sign something like a liability waiver unreasonable?

The way to protect yourself is to only work with cleaners who have their own liability insurance @Josh1861

easy enough for self employed cleaners to take this out.

mine have it .

@Josh1861 Our insurance policy covers liability if employees are hurt. We don't have any employees  but I guess it is there if we need it. This is another example of why people should not rely on Aircover.

@Helen3 I've never looked as we don't employ people but having looked at the definition of Employee in the liability section of the policy it seems to have a broad coverage that includes criminals, voluntary helpers, contractors and actual employees

Employee
a Any person under a contract of service or
apprenticeship with the Insured
b any of the following persons whilst working for the
Insured in connection with the Business
i any labour master or labour only subcontractor or
person supplied by them
ii any self-employed person providing labour only
iii any trainee or person undergoing work experience
iv any voluntary helper
v any person who is borrowed by or hired to the
Insured
vi any home worker or outworker
vii any person working under the Community
Offenders Act 1978, the Community Service by
Offenders (Scotland) Act 1978 or similar legislation
viii any prospective employee being assessed by the
Insured as to their suitability for employment
ix any person a court of law in the United Kingdom
deems to be an employee..

@Josh1861 in australia if this person is self contracted then they should carry their own insurance. If they are your employee then you are responsible . Make sure you use those who run their own business would be my suggestion.. H
