I had initially booked a place for 26th November 2021 to 9th December 2021. The refund is 100% for change/cancellation before 3 pm on 21st November. I've changed my dates to 26th Nov to 2nd December at 1.30 pm on 21st November. It says it will be processed once the host approves. I called the host, who says they are out and will do so once they get back. I want to know whether the refund can be denied if they do not approve (or approve after 3 pm) even if my cancellation falls within the terms and rules? Will I get the pending amount back?

Shortening a reservation can be done at any time, if(!) the request is approved the price for the reservation will be recalculated based on the new dates. But a host is not obliged to approve a change. You probably want to cancel before 3pm if no approval received in time. You then can retract the change request and cancel the reservation.

Thanks @Emiel1, for your response.
You mean to say that a change of dates (or the shortening of a reservation) is subject to the host's approval depending on the price calculation for the new dates and reservation period. But that a complete cancellation does not require the host's approval if it is within the cancellation deadline. I understand now. Thank you so much for explaining.
PS: My date change request was approved by the host and the refund has been completed, so the matter is resolved in this case. Thank you again for your response.
