I just had a guest get a 34% weekly discount that I did not enter.
I promptly changed the discount to 5% from 34%. I never entered the 34% discount.
I likely had zero discount, since I stopped offering weekly discounts years ago.
I use a desktop, so I don't have a small screen issue. I have been using the platform for years, this is not a user error.
I contacted customer support. I am not impressed with the support.
I was told to ask the guest to pay the difference or cancel. That is an unacceptable resolution.
This happened to me and my reply to you was blocked. Interesting!
Let's try again...
Don't rent at the unwanted rate!
AirBnb denied that there was a glitch.
I would love to see the correspondence where AirBnb admitted there was a glitch.
I recovered nothing.
Did this get resolved? I just got a booking request, where Airbnb quoted a price that is 60% discounted -- and I never authorized a 60% discount. I haven't approved the booking at the incorrect rate and am trying to get an answer from Airbnb.
Airbnb has a supposed glitch (I thought it was corrected by now) where they alter your rates to give the discounted rate. Go into your rates and you will see that it has been altered from your rate. FIX IT back to your rate and then call Airbnb immediately and have them handle the cancellation or increased rate for your guest. Do Not be the one to make the cancellation because it goes against your record of being an exceptional host. You can message your guest and explain the issue and they can cancel and re-book at your regular rate. This happened to me a couple of years ago. Unfortunate issue. Time they really fix the bug. Be sure to keep checking the rates regularly. Good luck.
I'm going through the same thing now. I wonder if I can avoid it by restrictions reservations to 6 days at a time? Or just going with VRBO instead. This is shady business practices and since people are reporting it since 2021, I don't expect Airbnb to stop doing it now.
I took yet another hit from AirBnb.
AirBnb does not care about hosts.
I was surprised to win a different battle once before on a same day cancellation. It is not hopeless.
I was referring to taking the hit for the earlier incident. It has not recurred since.
