Airbnb Collecting Taxes "For Me"

I believe Air bnb should not willingly become agents of the IRS in collecting taxes from renters  ... It's not Airbnb's reponsibility; it's the responsibility of the individual airbnb member who is earning income to pay taxes  ... Or not, which in that case it would be the responsibility of the IRS to prosecute compliance.

I am not aware that Air BNB collects any taxes but occupancy taxes in this country, @Nathan132.  Do you know something different?

@Nathan132 where does AirBnB collect taxes for the IRS?

In my city, AirBnB collects Hotel Taxes for the city, but that is for the city, not the IRS.

(Plus, AirBnB certainly did not do it willingly. It took many years, several lawsuits, and a couple of local pieces of legislation.)

Where is AirBnB willingly collecting taxes for the IRS (which, I assume, means Federal taxes)?
