Australia. Late April 2019. Airbnb notify me that I am required to update my ID by 1 May 2019.
No problem, happy to do so.
Driver's license stolen from car so I phone Airbnb to explain I will not meet the deadline.
Much talk and assurance from Airbnb.
First week of May, new license, take photo of it and upload through the Airbnb link.
But wait, we want more. Airbnb require a 'selfie'. Have to buy new phone with this ability, (no, not everyone has the latest technology).
Take selfie, no go, need to activate phone/internet service. (my phone service provider, not Airbnb).
One week later, take selfie, upload and I think it's all concluded.
NO.
My payments are being withheld until I provide required ID.
Contact Help Center.
Lots of lip service. Lots of 'thanks for reaching out'. (It's called contact in English).
At least two dozen posts/support tickets. Many phone calls. All dead ends.
After four+ weeks I sought legal action and advised 'Airheads' of this.
June 19. New (never received before) link sent requesting I add my business details.
This is all that was missing!!!
I have lost over $1000 worth of income. (Average 150 guests per year @ $99AUD per night).
I wish I was a multi billion $ host. I could leave my guests in the snow to die and have no repercussions.
My rating for Airbnb host service is NO STARS, THUMBS DOWN, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
DISGRACEFUL AND DISGUSTING treatment.
Now they are threatening to downgrade my Superhost level!
