An awesome spot to vacation within the next 3 weeks!

I am a teacher in Florida. I have three weeks left before going back to work. I really want to spend a good time with my family of 4 ( 2 adults & 2 children) before going back. Any good affordable place that you can suggest for me.  Thank you much!

I truly appreciate your response Lawrene.  I am still navigating through the site. It is very confusing right now, but I will get it. As far as adding more verifications, I just want to make sure that it is safe to do so. I'm feeling like being dropped in an Island right now and trying to meet people and being hopeful they are the right people.

I truly thank you for your help.

Hi, @James972. The Airbnb home page can be a a bit overwhelming, so I understand your wish just to have someone suggest something. It's just that "affordable" is different for everyone and we don't know your exact dates or how far you are willing to drive or whether the thing we suggest will be available when you want to book. It can be fun to look, though, so when you sign in to Airbnb, in the top box that says "Anywhere" or "Try XXX", type the place you want to go. Even just "Florida" if you want options for the whole state. Select your exact dates (if you want - or just leave it blank) and numbers of guests (4) and then hit "Homes". Scroll through until you find exactly what you need. You can do the same with Experiences. Pick History or Art Classes or Animal Encounters - whatever the kids like. Back to homes, though, because you will want accommodations: You can just go with the Family Collection of homes if you want, but that isn't perfect yet. There are lovely family homes who are not part of the collection, since dividing homes into collections is new. If you want to look at the map, along the top of the screen click "Show Map". (I'm working from a laptop - it will look a bit different on your phone, if that's what you are using.) With each listing, look to see whether the host accepts children, and read the description and house rules. Read the reviews.

Here's the thing, though. You won't be able to stay anywhere if you don't get a few more verifications done. All you have right now is your email address. Upload those. Write a little bit about yourself and your family. It is a trust platform, and hosts like to know who is staying with them.

All the best! Have a fun summer vacation!

That's understandable, @James972. Here's my take on it: Airbnb is often (not always) the cheaper option, and it is often the better option, especially if you are a person who likes to meet people. The tradeoff is that you have to give a big company your ID, in just the way your host did. We start off being able to trust that, on each side, we are who we say we are. (It's not perfect, of course, but as near as possible.) And then we go from there. Choose wisely among the listings that come up - anything that looks too good to be true likely is, for instance. Be the best guest ever, and your host will give you a thumbs up that will mean you can instant book anywhere. I think you will have a very good time. I have. I am both a guest and a host, and, I have to tell you, it was my first experience as a guest that made me love the idea of Airbnb.

Will you let us know how it goes?

@James

James, do you want to pay for the kids or do you think they should go for free?

This question exercises the minds of many hosts.

@Cormac0

Thank you for responding! My two boys are age 6 years old and 20 months. The best deal that I can get would be on my best interest.

Again, thank you.

@James972

I'll take that was a no then.
