Twice this month folks have tried to book nights. Knowing that declining a request is a black mark on our record; I try to explain in a message what has taken place. I don't want to have to do this.
What can we do to prevent this from happening?
@Mike-and-Paula0 It's by no means a proper solution of course but before you block a date why not change your price skywards by adding a couplet of zeros on the end of your regular price.
If something occurs outside your control that unblocks your blocked dates, it's the ultimate deterrent for prospective bookers and it's unlikely you would get a request or need to decline.
What if you get a request but don't want to accept it as you have friends staying. Does it count as a cancellation if they are making a request. If you turn down a request it goes up as a cancellation
How dishonest is that!! Why not just fix the problem? It's ridiculous to have to kowtow to metrics when you are offering a service to others. If you have dates blocked and Airbnb let's people request a booking that is a programming problem and a VERY serious one at that.
This has not been fixed!! Ive just noticed blocked dates on one of my listings showing as available. Pretty annoyed as intant book is on. Adjusting price is a good idea but a nuisance.
Instant book is full of bugs. Best to eliminate the feature.
AIRBNB metrics have become a hindrance rather than a help. So rather than offering a service and getting graded on that, you're penalized for having good sense and time management of your own style.
I just had a booking request for 9 nights that I had blocked on my calendar.
