Bloody sheets and mattress

Hi! 

So my guests were great while they were here, unfortunately they left a blood on the sheets which seeped through and stained my mattress and now thats a bloddy mess. I tried cleaning it but the stain will not come off. I got an estimate of $125 to have my mattress steam cleaned and am requesting that from the guests. My question is, do you guys know if they will give me a bad review because I've requested this?

Hi @Alisa17 -I use a waterproof mattress protector under a quilted mattress topper. I've had some nasty stains over the years, but the mattress is never touched, only the protectors, which are both washable. I definitely think the guests should have discussed the stained sheets with you, but trying to collect money once they are gone is chancy. I don't think there are repercussions for them if they don't want to pay. It also will probably affect their review of your place. $125. Is substantial money, and it may seem a lot to pay for some stained sheets to your guest. And while they might acknowledge the sheet stains, it will be harder for them to accept the mattress damage. They might chose not to believe it was them, for example, and argue that the mattress should have been better protected.

We had a simular problem last year, the young lady had her monthly, we guess when she checked out she threw all the linen in the bathtub, other than that they were a nice group of young people. I gave them a good review, but on the private message I told her that she should have told us of what had happened, so we could have washed the sheets immediately. We had to throw them away, which I told her about, she was kind enough to send us a check for $50.00.

My guest is telling me to use bleach which will erode the sheet - I am only asking for $21 dollars to replace the sheet and a washcloth which will result in my sheets being mismatched because the whole sheet set is $50 plus tax.   I was trying to be nice but she didn't even apologize and never thanked me for the cereal and milk I left for them or the bread.
