Booking and early cancellations

I have a wonderful renter who had to go to the doctor due to an allergic reaction.  The doctor isn't sure what it is .... but told him it could be my pillows or mattress.  I feel so bad.  This has never happened before.  He booked for 33 days and is leaving 2 wks early.  He is not upset with me at all and does not feel anything is my fault.  I suggesed he check out tomorrow on AIRBNB and if I rent that room out again, I am happy to refund him his money.  Should I refund it anyway even if I don't rent it out.  Probably the proper thing to do?  Suggestions?

Sounds like the guest is surprised by the allergy problem so he could not have taken steps to mitigate the problem.  Let him cancel and follow your cancellation policy.  Don't feel guilty and refund money you don't have.  If you get another renter, then consider a refund.  I would think he would try to find out what he is allergic to for future travel and it might be useful information for you to have if he would like to share.
