Bookings

I have a guest who has confirmed a booking with me but waiting for her firm to pay the deposit. To assist this time frame i blocked out the period of time so the process can take place.

When I unblocked the dates today but immediately got inqiries from other guests. I reblocked and appologised to the inquiries that it was no longer available.

What is the best thing to do in this situation.

The problem again would be a delay of the guest with the deposit when i unblock leaving others to book the space.

Thankyou for your time.

@Nancy880  You say the guest has a confirmed reservation. The dates get automatically blocked for a confirmed reservation and the guest has 24 hours to pay. I don't understand what you mean about blocking the dates manually.

I wouldn't block dates for a guest who didn't have their payment together. First come, first served. You could have lost out on other bookings and the original "waiting for payment" guest never books at all. Don't be so nice 🙂

And guests don't pay a "deposit". Their booking is paid for within 24 hours of booking. They can opt to pay in 2 installments, but that's between them and Airbnb.

Contact the person you are holding the dates for.  Let them know they need to book within the next XX hours or the dates will be open to book.

The XX is whatever timeframe you decide but not more than 24 hours.

You took a chance and it may or may not pay off. Either way you learn a lesson. Set limits - is the lesson.

You have a good heart- don't change.  🙂
