Hi, started ABnB in May this year. As the name suggests, I thought that "breakfast" was an accepted part of the deal. Experience and feedback since tells me that most guests and many nearby competitors dont expect/provide this basic service. This means that comparing against local competition leaves me looking expensive. Is there any way that I can create a separate price for Breakfast as part of my overall pricing package [in a similar way that I charge separately for cleaning]? This would allow me to drop room only rate and provide potential customers with "bed" or "bed+breakfast" options.
As you will see from many listings on the site including in your area, breakfast is an option that hosts can choose to include or not. The name can be confusing 🙂
You don't have to do so, so just remove the option from your listing. If you want to offer it, offer it as an optional extra at a cost.
You will obviously need to honour breakfast for bookings made so far.
Thanks Helen for responding promptly. If I want to offer as an optional cost, am I able to do this within the ABnB pricing structure or do I just get guests to pay me cash?
I'm sure as a Superhost you are familiar with Airbnb's Help Centre, but I always use it as my 'go to' for this sort of issue. Particularly as Airbnb's T&Cs change so much.
My understanding is you would need to send your guests a special offer to include breakfast. Airbnb doesn't allow hosts to ask guests for cash payments. (although some do for this sort of thing).
