British Exchange Rates US dollars for Scottish Pound

Why is my Guest from Great Britain charged my room rate plus an Exchange rate of about $100-150 US dollars for 1 months stay when the reservation is just for one to two weeks in the future? Room rate is about $1200 US dollars
