CALENDAR BLOCKED BY VERIFICATION PENDING

I had two verfication pending instant bookings blocking my calendar Friday and Saturday night, in which neither one booked.

This is an absolute waste of my available rooms and there needs to be a change here.   Both of these bookings with verification pending were done the same day as the night they were requesting.   My opinion would be that if the booking request is made by a new user that needs verification, that is done WITHIN 72 HOURS of the night they are requesting, airbnb allows 1 HOUR/ONE HOUR FOR THEM TO SUBMIT VERIFICATION, then if it is not received within that hour,  the calendar is opened back up for other guests to book.   For someone not verified to book a room at Noon of the night they request, then never send verification, that blocks the room so no one else can book it FOR 12 HOURS.  It is absolutely aweful AND DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE.    Allow them one hour, if they are serious about using airbnb, then they will send in the verification.

@Keith6  You have a good point but until Air BNB makes such a change it might be worth it to you to get rid of Instant Booking and perhaps the ability for same day booking.  Just a thought...

You can make a suggestion for a policy and system change in Host Voice.

I have a "Verification Pending" that is blocking my calendar!!  This is not fair to Hosts.  Guests should not even be permitted to block any dates until all of their verification information has been throroughly completed!  Does anyone know how, as a Host, I can delete their hold on dates until they are fully vetted?  Thank you.

@Mark_Karen0  Since you do not have Instant Book, you must have approved the request.  What do you think would be a solution from Air BNB  to deal with an extended amount of time for a guest to be verified?  On the one hand, you have approved them as a guest.  On the other hand, the verification is not complete.

I really don't understand verification pending status.  I don't approve requests that do not meet my criteria for verification and my requirements for IB are similar.  Your thoughts?

Linda -

I actually did not approve their request - it showed up on my calendar without any notice or request from the individual.  After further research from comments of other hosts I have found that this is something AirBnB is just doing - allowing individuals to place a "hold" of up to 12 hours while they finish submitting their verification information.

My solution is that all Guests must already have completed their verification information prior to being able to request dates at any property.  I had to have all my information completely verified before becoming a Host and guests should be required to do the same.

@Mark_Karen0 That is a new one for me - blocked 12 hours?  ! It don't require having verification taking that long but I have also had friends tell me signing up is a pain.
