I'm staying at an Airbnb in Vienna, and we just got a threatening note on our door (apparently a neighbor) saying that Airbnb is a crime and we need to go home. We've contacted the customer service line, and the woman there told us that we need to have the person who paid for the trip, an admin at our university call, she wouldn't speak to us, the guests. We need to be able to speak to someone about that to do, the owners are saying this has happened before and we need to know if we should leave the building or if there is an Airbnb policy for this. We canot get ahold of the admin at our school who official paid (from our money) and booked the trip.
3/4 of all the listings in my area are clearly "illegal" (registration required, regulations for guest count/noise/locations etc). Code enforcement could fine a host, don't know what they would do with guest if anything, but really it is untenable that ABB acts like getting hosts to SAY that a listing is legal is sufficient. They have the ability to do better and they should.
@Katelyn16 if you're receiving communication from the host on the message platform then you have a valid Business reservation and it seems completely absurd that ABB won't talk to you. I'd keep trying.
Personally I would bin it, if you feel threatened it is matter for the Police.
Another note was left last night, still haven’t been able to speak to anyone at Airbnb. Still trying to get ahold of the secretary at our school as well, we’re here for four more days so not too long.
Hopefully this person calms down a bit and realizes we’re probably not going anywhere. The last note said we should’ve stayed at home.
