Cancelation policy

Hello, I'm hoping to get some guidance.  We currently have a strict cancellation policy for our property, but didn't realize that the renter only have 48 hours from booking to cancel and get a full refund.  If we change the policy to moderate the renter can get a full refund even if they cancel 2 weeks prior to booked dated.  Is there an inbetween?  We have a reservation in 8 months and there was a change to the cost which they did not agree too.  When she tried to cancel the reservation the system told her she was only going to recieve $11.  If we cancel on our end we will also be charged and lose our superhost status.  I want to be able to give her a full refund without any penalty fees, how can we do that?

@Rodrigo466,

You can not change the cancellation policy once a reservation is confirmed. If 48 hours has passed, only Airbnb can cancel it with full refund (or if you cancel). You stated "there was a change to the costs", it depends on what it is related to, if Airbnb is willing to cancel.

@Rodrigo466 If it was because you didn't update your calender and a guest booked you will have to eat it. You cannot expect a guest to pay extra after they booked and you cannot ask them to pay because you screwed up. I would never ask a guest to pay extra because I forgot to update my calender I would honor the booking and see it as a learning curve.

I don't see how airbnb can help you as you messed up but you could try and contact airbnb.

Best, Sandra

When she cancels, you as the host will have the option to refund her in full. She will lose the Airbnb service fees, however.

I would eat the mistake and honor her reservations as is.
