Cancellation

I have a guest that cancelled 6 hours before they were to come because they looked at the map wrong. They've been on the books for about a month and they booked for an entire week, so I'm losing out on that money. What should I do?

What is your cancellation policy on your listing?

You will have to refund according to your cancellation policy. If you are on Strict you will still be paid, otherwise less so.

You'll be bound by the air BnB cancellation policy. If I were you I'd ensure your policy is set to strict.

Happened to me as well, my cancellation policy was MODERATE and they were only refunded partial amounts because they looked at the map in error...

Go STRICT all the way. It helps nail down the people who are organised and committed. These are solid guest that read the policy and they are respectful.

If you are not on strict cancellation then change it now, and live and learn.

@Carolyn43 Your listing uses the Flexible cancellation policy. Which means you'll be paid for only the first night since the guest cancelled less than 24 hours in advance.

The first thing you should do is change your cancellation policy. Moderate if you want to remain somewhat "flexible", or Strict if you want to play it safe.

I am surprised that you are not familiar with such a basic issue as cancellation.  Looks like you have been pretty busy for the last several months but I strongly advise you to take the time to familiarize yourself with the many, many articles provided by Air BNB. 

These lovely hosts that have responded to your question are quite right, but don't count on the Community to educate you.
