Cancelling a booking

My current guests need to extend their 3 month stay for medical reason and I have a booking after the check out date , I contacted the next guest to cancel his booking then I can acvoaccommo my vcurren guests and he has no problem to do so but Airbnb told him you will not get your money back and the guest has to cancel and if I cancel myself I will get the automated review for cancellation 

How can we resolve this issue ?

You want the cancellation to accommodate a current guest.  You can negotiate with the future guest that you will refund 100% of the reservation including any fees that Air BNB has charged.  You can add the incentive of an additional bonus for the guest to cancel the reservation by a certain date.  You also might consider seeking these costs from the current guest in the form of either a higher nightly charge or an addition fee for services.   

 

 

If the guest cancels you can call Airbnb and request they get a full refund.

 

I have done that for a regular guest who had to cancel. But in this case Airbnb should do it for you and call it extenuating circumstances.

 

Lastly, I once booked an Airbnb and the host had a guest who got her dates wrong. So she ran to Ikea and bought an extra bed. We are all still friends after that. 

 

Wish Aiebnb understood their platform won’t survive an IPO if they don’t give hosts more flexibility. We are their backbone.
