Cancelling a returning guest

Cancelling a returning guest

My boyfriend and I just had a horrible guest experience. He booked 8 days and 2 days in he messaged me asking for 4 days of it to be refunded because he had just gotten off work and needed to go to his wedding in Canada? I'm not sure how that creeps up on you but anyway, besides that the whole time he was constantly yelling on his phone and spent the majority of his time in our only bathroom. The whole thing was unpleasant. We absolutely do not want him to book with us again, but he mentioned trying to book us again in January. We really prefer having instant book on because we get much more bookings with it than when it's turned off. So my question is if this guest booked me could I cancel it without being penalised since he's been a guest of mine before and it was terrible? Or do I have to turn off instant booking?

@Virginia69 Yeah, you would think he would have known in advance if he was getting married or attending someone else's wedding.

In any case, when you review this person, if you don't think he is a good candidate for Instant Bookings, give him a "thumbs down" in your review and write a private comment to Airbnb why you don't think this person should be able to Instant Book.

If that doesn't prevent him from making an Instant Book again, you can cancel up to 3 times by stating you are not comfortable with this guest as described here:

By the way, what's up with all the reviews from Laura?  Doesn't look right.

Hi @Clare0 - Laura seems to be a repeat guest. I've got something going on like that at the moment too. Somebody who rented out her place while teaching most of the week in another city down south, but took on a day temping back here for a month.

With everything so quiet right now her repeat stays stick out like sore thumbs... 😉
