Check in times

We are relevantly new to hosting and am enjoying it but this week we have already had a guest turn up late for check in and now another has emailed to say her check I. Time is outside of our time and may even be later so could we leave a key outside for her.

our check in times are between 3-9pm as we live here and also both work full time. We don’t mind up until 10pm by arrangement but want to stop late check ins before it gets out of hand.

i like to show our guests around, I don’t think I want to leave a key outside (no lock box) and not know who is coming in.

should I politely say sorry but our check in times are 3-9 but can arrange up until 10pm or what would people do?

@Julie1458

Guests should respect your check-in/out times. It's part of the reservation. And no way leaving keys outside. Maximum and exception on 10pm is fair enough.

Thank you. I think it’s not worth the few pounds for 1 night stay for our safety. Not that I think there would be anything wrong, just not comfortable leaving a key outside when we have stated our check in times etc.

I have emailed her back and stated if she cannot guantee by 10pm then she may want to rethink her booking. See what happens. Thank you.

At the prices you charge, @Julie1458, it's your rules and absolulutely no to late check ins. 10:30 will become 11:30, and so on.

Thank you. As you say could get later and later.... and for 1 night it’s not worth it.
