Check out, how should I proceed?

I am a new host, and currently I have my first guest. So, tomorrow is chek out. And I do not know how should I proceed? Should I come in the flat with my guest and check whether all things are ok. Or should I trust and take a key and make cheking later? The guest has proposed to bring me the key as I live nearby.

@Natalia77   I would go there, once they have left it's far more difficult to address any issues.

Entirely up to you to set the rule re check in and check out. What feels and works best for you?

I welcome my guests on check in, but on check out day they just leave the keyes in the apartment. I did not have any problems so far. but as @Gerry-And-Rashid0 said do "What feels and works best for you?"

I tell them to leave the key and close the door (as it locks by itself) but I try to get there asap as often guests leave heaters on, windows open, lost property etc. But I feel no need at all to be there as they leave. Would make me feel awkward. I am always there at check in, which is a more important time to meet guests.
