Just bear with me on this.
Are cleaning fees for:
1 Prepping the listing for an incoming guest?
OR
2 Cleaning up after the guest who paid the cleaning charge?
I always believed it was 2.
I realise that with back to back reservations these co-incide but I have recently been asked about this by a guest and I wouldl like to know the right answer.
Thank you.
Hi @Carol302 I hope you are well!
There isn't a 'right' answer to be honest- the cleaning fee is for whatever you feel it is for.
Some hosts just use it to add a premium to single night bookings, to offset the host service fee- and of course for cleaning!
Personally, I see it as for the prep of the listing for an incoming guest, rather than an excuse for guests to leave the listing in a mess because they have 'paid' for it to be cleaned-up once they leave 🙂
Paul.
It's semantics, if you are cleaning to prep for the next guest, you are cleaning up after the previous guest, it's the same. I would just say it's for the fixed costs related to cleaning, sanitizing and staging the apartment for each guest.
