Confused over ratings

Hi there I am a new host and we have had a few ratings now.

One guest gave us 5 stars for every category but the overall rating has come out as 4 stars.    Is this correct?

Did he choose the overall rating or was it calculated?

Phone air bnb number in London and ask them to explain how you got this star rating

@Emma501  The individual star ratings for cleanliness, etc, are not averaged to get the Overall. The overall is separate- and they have recently changed the guest review form, so that guests don't even see a star ratings for Overall- guests have boxes to check- what you got, a 4*, means the guest checked the box "A bit better than I expected". Should be good, right? Nope, not as far as Airbnb is concerned when it comes to hosts.

Hosts have been up in arms about this sneaky, non-transparent review change- search other lengthy threads on the hosting forum for more info and host responses. "New Review Form".

@Emma501  My way of combatting this crappy new review process has been to remove some extra anemities I offered on the listing before. This way they get surprised by them and hopefully give a 5* "Much better than expected." It's ridiculous that I have to do this, but it's all I could come up with to turn this new review system into a more favorable form for me. Be grateful they did not check off "As expected" it would result in a 3* overall rating. It's completely under handed what they are doing with all this data mining, spying and false information they are feeding the guests. The guest has no idea would be my guess that they gave you a 4* Overall. I would actually message them and ask for feedback on why they gave you a 4* Overall and what you could do to bring it up to a 5*  for them. I'll bet they had no idea they gave you the 4*.
