Good morning. Need advice-rented son room for several weeks at home she comanages - should of read her reviews more carefully. Should of been wary when I had to directly pay her through Venmo for couple of extra days-and looking at her Venmo account appears many guests are paying her directly & not thru Airbnb.
In a nutshell she emailed me often threatening to escalate “issues” and “evidence” of our son leaving a wet towel on bathroom floor. Of smoking cigarettes & leaving empty beer cans throughout house-neither of which were true-he doesn’t smoke or drink! Contractor working on home had his girlfriend showering & sleeping there-she’s texting me threatening to warn him not to do this again. He was working-contactor admitted it was his girlfriend-not my son. While he was at work she & owner would enter his locked room ~without notice ~ and texted me asking him to make his bed before he left for work each morning. Excuse me? He works 60+ hrs a week-eats-sleeps-showers-and works again.
So-I haven’t written a public review yet-but would like to disclose this info to potential renters as she’s really off the wall. Have screen saved her long, rambling emails & texts which are unintelligible at points. She’s asked me not to leave her a negative review (she’s had many) or “I can make things bad for you”. Am prepared for her to blast me - as she has others in all cap screaming replies. It’s not fair letting another guest walk into this situation.

Thanks for your replies. When booking she was aware this was for him-not me-as he was temporarily in that city opening a new store for Corporate. Normally books his own places-and not in area anymore-so he’s away from situation. If you read the reviews we’ve received-and him-as guests, you’d know we leave others premises in perfect condition.
My my concern was for future guests-others blindly entering without reading reviews-but guess I’ll let it go and the onus will be on them.
Thanks for your help!
@Colleen267 There's so much wrong here...
One, you aren't allowed to book Airbnb's on behalf of other people. Your Airbnb account is for booking places for you to stay at, or you and other people where you will be on site.
Two, Airbnb specifically tells you to stay within the system and to make all payments on the platform only. The host is violating the rules, but unfortunately, so are you.
As per the Airbnb terms of service, you shouldn't be writing a review at all, because you are not actually the guest or on site and have no way to know what's actually happening. Personally, I would chalk this up to experience and move on, and if you continue to use Airbnb, stay within the terms of service.
I join Alexandra. You must be very, very thankful to the host, who allowed your son to stay as 3rd party bookings are not allowed on Airbnb. She could easily kick him out and not give you a refund. Her messages to you a minor issue.
Moreover, if she will find out this topic and will show it to Airbnb, your account will be removed.
"Of smoking cigarettes & leaving empty beer cans throughout house-neither of which were true-he doesn’t smoke or drink!"
Thats what you believe, but not proven. My son also says he does not smoke or drink, yet other people tell me different things. I could just imagine what can actually happen if he travels far away from me and stays in someone's else place 😊
Please leave this crazy host an appropriate review, @Colleen267. I for one would appreciate it. And the threat? Plain nasty. And regardless of who the booker is, she accepted it and needs to suck it up.
