Damaged dishwasher

My last guest damaged the heating element in my dishwasher, a spatula melted and burned onto the bottom element.  What can I do as far as cost to be covered to repair it.

@Nancy1575 was it really the guest's fault or was it poor dishwasher design. My vote is for the latter.

@Nancy1575  Doesn't sound like guest damage to me. How are they responsible for a spatula melting in the dishwasher?
