Probably a simple answer. I receive emails with a request. It says accept or decline. When I log in I cannot find the message! I then reply to the emails direct but airbnb then penalise me for not responding! I get request for dates that are deleted off my calender, is that normal?

Love the name of your listing, @Ann64. I have never heard the name "teapot cottage", but it fits beautifully for your lovely place. Sometimes new hosts such as yourself do not make a distinction between a reservation inquiry and a reservation request. A request which has specific dates requires an approval or decline within 24 hours to keep the response rate high. A reservation inquiry does not require any response for your response rate but you have the option to pre-approve if you wish.
So you are referring to a reservation request, you can find it in your reservations and it will be pending. You can respond by accepting or declining from there. Does this help?
I have tried again this morning as I had a reminder from airbnb. I tried all three accounts. I am happy to say that the customer received my email and responded so its just the site!
